Israeli researchers have recently reported the creation of "synthetic" mouse embryos from stem cells, and Father Tad considers the ethical implications of this technology. He notes that it does not raise significant moral concerns in mice, but that it should never be attempted with humans, to the extent that researchers would be engendering, or seeking to engender, real human embryos. He also alludes to the reasons why this would involve a failure to respect human dignity.
