As our culture faces current faces pressure to accept and promote transgender ideologies, with the practical consequences of promoting hormonal interventions and gender reassignment surgeries, the biological phenomenon whereby a small percentage of individuals (<1%) are born with ambiguous sexual characteristics or genitalia is being used to support the idea that there is more than one sex. The term "intersex" has been used to describe a kind of fluidity in sexual assignment or identity. In his contributions to this CatholicVote article, Father Tad explains that this term and idea is incorrect and leads to confusion. He further points out that based on Church teaching on sexuality, "We must carefully acknowledge, nurture and accept our given embodied sexual nature as male or female. Willfully denying or acting against that given nature will constitute little more than a prescription for disillusionment and dishonesty."
